Felted Doll Pin

These Needle felted doll pins are some samples from classes. I will be teaching this class in DEC. in Fallbrook Ca. at Ravens' Wood Studio. If you would like to take this class please contact me about openings and cost. You will recieve a kit that has hand dyed wool roving, peweter charms, beads , felting needles, pin back and art yarns to embellish with. The studio setting is by a creek in a Private setting surrounded by woods, birds, and fresh air. A great place to create.

Needle felted doll her twisted wool hair is what inspired her name. Her name is Celtic and means fairy goddess, patroness of love. Aine is about 24"in.

I live in So. Ca. wine country so I embroidered a grape vine on this square. I also had a vintage collection of glass buttons that I sewed all over the quilt. There maybe over 70 buttons I never counted them.

Bee Hive Needle Case

This bead work is raised work which you really can't see in pic. It has a padded form in bead work. This is another vintage wool blanket I cut up for needle case. My class loved this type of bead work. It is a fun project.

Silk Ribbon Needle case

This is a sweet wool needle case that I did silk ribbon embroidery on. The out line stitch I used was the blanket stitch. An old wool blanket was cut up to use for the base. That wonderful green is the color of the blanket . The cotton thread I used for the blanket stitch was a great match!!

Teddy Bear Pincushion

I used Vintage wool to create pincushion. Then added this little bear atop and sewed sewing charms to it. I LOVE pincushions making them and collecting them. Yes, I do even sell them!

Felted Heart Brooch

This was a class that we talked about our HEARTS Desires. And choose color roving's that reflected what we were feeling. After felting our hearts, then choose a word that reminded us of what we were feeling, wanted, needed or wanted to aspired to, ect.

This pre-made silk doll that was a class I taught in Northern Ca. She was also published in Bead Unique Magazine in 06'. The class was to learn how to bead embroidery on a 3-d piece.

Wool Brooch

I had a small pieces of scrap wool so I beaded flowers and blanket stitched another piece of wool to the back. Size is about 2x3in.

Chatelaines were very poplar in the Victorian era for the ladies of the house. It carried they special pair of scissors and other sewing ephemera. I have added a pincushion to mine.

Whimsical Flower Crazy Quilt

This crazy quilt wall hanging was featured in Bead Unique magazine in 06. As you can see I was one a deadline there were no embellishments on the seems. So I will be finishing this quilt this year. With no embellishments on the seems it is only a patchwork quilt not a crazy quilt.



Feather Brooch

I found some vintage feathers and stems so I decided to make a brooch with them. I made velvet leaves for the base. Added beaded fringe. It has that 30's or 40's look.

I just LOVE Crazy quilting. I finished this quilt in 06'. I embellished with hand and bead embroidery, French ribbon work, and add bits and pieces of vintage jewelry. Quilt size is 65x65in. A Gypsy blanket...

Black dress night!!

This purse was bought at a discount store. Handles and sides are leather and the front and back is a heavy canvas. I added black trim at base of handles. I then Embellished with velvet fabric that I hand stitched into flowers and leafs. LOVE that Bling so I added vintage rhinestone buttons and brooch.

I found this vintage purse and it just called out to be embellished. Handles and top are wood.

Garden on my handbag

Have you thought about carrying a GARDEN? This cloth handbag has been embellished with hand dyed silk ribbons using French Ribbon work. Also hand dyed appliques, a bee pin, and brooch have been added.

French Ribbon work oh!la!la! This was a wonderful class I taught with a group of women that really had never hand stitched before. They were amazed what their hands had created!! On the corners I added vintage glass buttons.

Victorian Garden

This embroidery work is done on black velvet using cotton threads .Stitches used in this piece were bullion, lazy daisy, french knot and fern. Hand dyed applique embellished with bead fringe. This is a mini wall hanging.

Altered Art is just FUN. 8x8in. canvas board. Another class I taught using stamps and adding old tiles with letters stamped on them to spell ART . When piece was dried I antique it with stain.

Dream of ARt

This Altered Art piece is from a class I taught. Collage work was done on a 8x10 in. canvas board. It can hang on the wall or be placed in an easel.It was also embellished with old bits of jewelry.

This is one of my altered art pieces. I made this jointed cat hanger to hang on my white feather tree for Christmas. I then embellished it with bits and pieces of old jewel and velvet leaves.

This is a center of a crazy quilt. The form is padded and then I did some bead embroidery. WELL a LOT of beading. her wings are hand dyed and her face is much nicer then in picture. Her hair is also fringe beaded. I also spelled out in beads" bead Goddess".

Mermaid Wonder

This fiberart necklace is huge!!With lots of bead work and many different fibers twisted and knoted. . I made this after a vacation driving up the coast. I could see a beautiful mermaid swimming through the sea to lure her next sailor to her deep sea home.

Raven Felted Purse

This needle felted purse was done by hand. The purse was in Haute Purses magazine it is called Ravens. With hand needle felting there is a lot of poking!!! The ravens and flowers have a more padded look by using more roving to their design.

Funky Fiber

Cuff Bracelets

Two peyote stitch cuffs made with seed beads and crystals. they are really fun to wear!! I started making this kind of cuff about 3 yrs. ago and I have not stopped yet. I have made 18 so far.

French Ribbon Brooch

This is a French Ribbon brooch. Working with hand dyed silk ribbons, the applique is also hand dyed. I love teaching this class it is such a victorian statement!!

Beaded Flowers

This is an upcoming class, I should say 2 classes. First you will learn to piece a crazy quilt. Second class you will learn to bead embroider a dimensional flower and stems. Finally you will learn to make fringe from crystals and beads. A very whimsical and vintage style for your pleasure. This beaded flowers I have sewn on my large Crazy Quilt that was one of the finalist in the First 100k Quilt Challenge. The Quilt traveled the year to all the Major quilt shows in 2006. What a year!!!

French Ribbon Work Pincushion

This is a class I taught this month, and the students where thrilled with their Pincushion. Pincushion was made with velvets, silk hand dyed ribbons, beads and crystals. Also added sewing charms!! This is a really fun class to teach. I wish my rose garden was this lush!! Enjoy
